Agriculture & Food Sustainability Initiative

In 2023, due to funding cuts, the United Nations reduced or, in some cases, completely cut off food distribution for certain groups in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, resulting in a severe food shortage. In response, the UN allocated land for refugees to cultivate their own food. However, the land is located 10 miles from the camp, making access and preparation an immense challenge. Refugees must walk long distances to clear land that is not yet ready for planting, often without proper tools or resources.

To address this crisis, Ebenezer Global launched an agricultural initiative to support refugee farmers. We provide assistance to single mothers and widows by clearing farmland, supplying essential tools, distributing seeds, and transport to and from the farmland. This initiative aims to empower vulnerable families with sustainable food sources, reducing dependence on external aid and fostering self-sufficiency.

GreenHouse Project

In response to the ongoing food shortage in the Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, where fresh vegetables are scarce, Ebenezer Global Hub established a greenhouse to grow vegetables on a larger scale and year-round.

The greenhouse allows us to:

  • Provide fresh vegetables for our restaurant and catering services

  • Offer training programs on greenhouse farming and sustainable agriculture

  • Empower local businesswomen by selling vegetables at wholesale prices, helping them support their families and strengthen their businesses in the market

This initiative not only addresses food security but also creates economic opportunities and promotes self-sufficiency within the refugee and host communities.

Sports Development & Soccer Academy

In 2019, a dedicated missionary team from Tennessee, Texas, and Uganda partnered with Ebenezer Global to host a transformative four-day soccer training camp. The overwhelming success of this initiative led to the establishment of the Soccer Academy Program, a platform that unites boys and girls from diverse tribes and denominations through mentorship and the teachings of the Word of God.

Participants engage in weekly soccer training sessions and Bible studies, while also dedicating their Saturdays to community service. They actively support orphans, individuals with disabilities, and local hospitals, and volunteer at U.N. compounds and food distribution centers.

The Soccer Academy is structured into three teams to accommodate players between the ages of 11 and 25:

  • Boys Senior Team (18 to 25 years old)

  • Boys Junior Team (11 to 17 years old)

  • Girls Team

By fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and spiritual growth, the Soccer Academy empowers young athletes to develop personally, strengthen their faith, and give back to their communities.

Church Development & Pastoral Training

Many pastors within the Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement have not had the opportunity to attend seminary school. To address this need, Ebenezer Global, in collaboration with Disciple Hub, has developed a comprehensive Pastoral Training Program designed to equip pastors with theological knowledge and practical ministry skills.

This program offers a diverse range of Biblical courses, covering various topics, themes, and levels of complexity—all without the need for physical books or materials. Through access to an extensive library of Biblical resources, pastors will engage in in-depth scriptural study, exploring the historical context, teachings, and foundational principles of Christianity.

By deepening their understanding of faith and ministry, pastors are empowered to apply Biblical principles effectively, strengthening their leadership and enhancing their ability to serve and uplift their communities.
